Ordered part number 43F - 23145 - 10 - 00
For a 1995 XT600E. Jan 14-2009

These are the 43F seals I just ordered. Numbers on the seals.

Not sure as to why the new seal is 2mm higher than the original seal, but it prevents the original dust seal from sitting on top in it's usual place.
I've checked part numbers for a design change of the seals, dust seals and fork sliders, part numbers for each have remained the same from 1991 to 2002.
The 41mm X 53mm are I.D/O.D.
As seen above the new seal for a 95 XT600 is 2mm taller. by omitting the large washer that sits below the seal the taller seal and the swiper will fit. use the washer to drive the upper bushing (aka DU ring) in place, remove the washer and use it to drive the new seal in place. the swiper can be installed by hand.
-------------------------------------------------------------
This pipe works great as a seal driver, it's O.D is 48mm. the I.D is 45mm and the length is 36". it can be used as a slide hammer but it's length is long enough to clear most forks if you prefer to tap the end with a hammer.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Tape on the fork stanchion prevents scratching the surface and keeps the pipe centered as you drive the seal in.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Fork Oil. 7.5 Wt. 44oz minimum needed for change.
-------------------------------------------------------------
My Question.
Does anyone know what size forks came on the 95 XT600 ? the forks on my 99 XT600E look to be 41mm, the 99 was never imported into Canada or North America and I've had success with ordering parts for the 95, like sprockets and brake pads, but I've had no luck finding specs or tests on the 95 to see what size fork it has, any help would be greatly appreciated.

As you thought, 41mm.
That's a '95 600E, UK spec. The XT600 was superseded by the E model here before '95, but I can't imagine them being any different - apart from the electric foot.

Most oil seals have the dimensions cast into the rubber casing on the top side. The numbers are often very small but I have cross referenced seals by this number many times. It will be usually in the format Outside Diameter, Inside Diameter, Thickness (Height). eg 62 42 18
You might have the remove the ring clip or even the seal to read the number. If you have a seal out they are easy to measure if you have calipers.
Once you have the numbers there are a few shops around that can cross reference them for you. Try Janine at Daytona or Roland at Western, they have been around long enough they probably know how to look them up by dimension in the price list. If that doesn't work PM me and I will see what I can find out.
Don't count on the Yamaha part number. The five digit only indicates that it is a fork seal and not the dimensions. The three digit prefix indicates the model the part fits which you can see are different. I don't know about Yamaha part descriptions but Honda used to include the seal dimension in the part description. Look at the description to see if it is there. Often spaces and dashes are eliminated.
Older Honda seal numbers included the dimensions in a "logical" part number format which made life easy. Some web research should find some cross reference information. Many suspension tuners use only Honda seals as they seem to perform best. In the old days I used to just match them up out of the part bins
I hope this helps.

I can only guess that the bike has 41 mm forks and the seal holder is 53 mm based on the number so a fork seal with ID 41 and OD 53. As far as the depth of the seal I have no idea. I would run those numbers by a Yamaha dealer and see if they can cross reference or a bearing and seal supplier.
You should be able to verify the size with a set of calipers. Check out this link for seals:

I'm sure theyr'e different, last month I replaced the seal on one of the forks on my 1985 XT,it's a 43f kickstart model, and when I looked on ebay the seals are advertised as 85-89,90 onwards etc.If you go to the horizons unlimited Yamaha forum someone will give you a definitive answer.
Pursang, that part number is the same as the one that fits my 86 43F bike,I've just checked the O/D of the 43F stanchion and it's 41mm. Hope that helps.
