This build involves an upgrade to my original nuway single bike trailer, it worked fine for it's intended purpose of hauling one bike or with the addition of short walls could be used for light utility work, but was too small, and the weight distribution was all wrong for hauling sheets of plywood or 8' lumber. on the original frame I basically bolted on a whole new deck, the square steel tubing I used is called Telespar, it comes in 8 various sizes and they all fit into each other, the holes are spaced an inch apart and make building and measuring pretty simple. The original nuway single bike trailer. The new deck is now 8'-1" long and over 5' wide. Leveling the deck with wooden blocks. The sidewall/tailgate interlock, this is same idea as you'll find on a pickup tailgate, where the gate supports the sidewalls from splaying out under heavy loads. The finished trailer. not shown are the plywood inserts on the walls as well as pocket stakes for higher walls. The ramps on the tailgate are sections of galvanized drainage grate, used in roadway and parking lot construction, turned upside down they provide excellent traction and work great for motorcycle ramps, for heavy bikes you can easiliy bolt 1/8" flat bar on the sides for extra strength.
