This is what happened the one time I used a TYC chain, given to me as a gift it let go on the first ride and took out the centre case on my RM 250, if it's not a quality brand you trust, like Tsubaki, RK, DID, Regina etc, save yourself the trouble/expense and don't use it !

Found another example of a broken chain, even with brand names you have to be careful.While on the subject, I found this on a website I've never seen anything like it before ! notice many of the side plates are cracked, looks like a 420 chain was being run on 520 sprockets.

When I bought my 99 XT600E it came with a near new set of sprockets and a cheapo EK chain, probably the second worst chain I've ever owned next to the above TYC, the EK started kinking right away and stretched so much it required adjustment after every ride even with regular maintenance. it's being replaced with a quality D.I.D NZ Professional on fresh JT 14/47s.
