Hollow spaces in wall need to be framed with wood.
Discarded wall sections supply the wood for framing the new door opening.
3/4" plywood attached to the sidewalls starts reframing the doorway and become strengthening boxes on each side of the door.
3/4" plywood continues parallel to the back wall then back to attach to the wall itself.
2x4 provides a sturdy mounting point for lower section of box.

I was surprised to discover the front wall was a hollow insulated cavity with only tin on the outside and wallboard on the inside. since the bikes front wheel will be pressed against it I filled the cavity with 3/4" plywood and 7/16" OSB in front of that.
Cut holes in side walls to access storage area in front of wheel wells.
Top of doorframe is trimmed in drywall corner edging and faced with galvanized straping.
Similar materials used to replace the beat up aluminum trim.
Door is made from 1/2" plywood framed with 1" x4"s and 1" x6"s.
Keeping the window from the original door.
Plywood is skinned with 3/32" aluminum plate.
Doors to close off storage area behind rear wheel wells are made from 3/32" aluminum plate.
Aluminum stair nosing protects edges of the plywood floor.
