In my search to replace the 15/45s on my 99 XT600E I discovered Yamaha changed the countershaft sprocket design when they added electric start, from a six spline narrow sprocket to a fine 22 spline sprocket with a wide shoulder. JT list the same part number for the 1990 to 1998 XT600 countershaft sprocket as JTF577. the sprockets I presently have on the bike are a JTF577.14T and a JTR857.47 giving me a ratio of 3.21 to 1 over the stock 3.00 to 1. this appears to be the lowest ratio available having searched every year and combination of XT/TT I could find. a lower ratio requires some ingenuity and a trip to your local machine shop.

Have been told the largest rear sprocket listed by Sunstar for the 95 XT600 is 45 tooth.

Don't trust BVP sprocket part numbers. I ordered a sprocket and discovered they list the correct part numbers on the wrong parts, for example, the BVP countershaft sprocket listed for 1990 and later XT600s is not the proper 22 spline type sprocket but the old 6 spline design from the pre 90s XT600s. parts people have mentioned frustration with BVP parts.

(UPDATE) As of March 2012 The JT 14/47 sprockets are no longer listed in Canadian supplier catalogs and have to be special ordered. (stock 15/45s may still be available) April Ferguson at Bike Alert in the U.S. was nice enough to make an exception and sold the 14/47s directly to me ! :-)

www.off-the-road.de have up to a 50 tooth rear sprocket. Also "PBI" makes sprockets as small as 13 for our bikes. This gives you plenty of options for really low gearing.
